Aluminum sows and doughnuts
The doughnut is an aluminum ring of approximately 1 kg with a toroidal shape. It is used mainly to deoxidize steel and to make additions in foundry work.
Being smaller than an ingot of about 11 kg, it allows finer dosing. The composition is formulated to order: high-aluminum content for deoxidation, or alloys such as AlSi7, AlSi10, AlSi11, 380 and 413.
